International women’s day Celebration; A Call to Action
Yes! Today is the day for the gender that make the world a beautiful place to be, without women, this world will be meaningless, and the fact remain men cannot survive, men would have gone into extinction at the very beginning of life.
This year’s international women day is tagged: “The Gender Agenda; Gaining Momentum” and it is of course celebrated every year on 8th of March. The modern progressive world needs equality where both gender will be seen as equal, no more male gender dominant over female gender. Everything should be with equal opportunities, and shared responsibilities. It is time for the women to strongly oppose the mordant attitude of men over the female folks where when men are talking, women are not allow to talk and perhaps they want to give them chances to say anything, they always cut short their contributions, it happen all over the places, at home, church, offices and everywhere, in job opportunities, government agencies, and academic world, women are always allowed to play the second fiddles of everything. In Nigeria according to the report of 2012, in governmental agencies, only 4% of women are visible, not to talk of work places like executives positions, you hardly seen women visibly present.
We hear about rape issues every day, batters women here and there by men of no conscience and it seems nobody can really get hold of this people, because women voices are not too loud enough to push the government at the edge of their seat, and overturn such acrimonies committed by men of no gut that cannot face their male counterpart in the outside world.
Though women have achieved a lot in some area but the unfortunate fact is that women are still not paid equally to that of their male counterparts, women still are not present in equal numbers in business or politics, and globally women’s education, health and the violence against them is worse than that of men.
According to Gloria Steinem, she said “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights”
It is your collective effort women want; if you’re truly a real man, offers your assistance to fight this cause, show your support today for the women to vehemently oppose gender inequality.
