Losing a loved one is a very bitter experience anyone can ever face in life and also one of the worst kind of feelings ever faced in the world.
The two different scenarios where you can lose a loved one are:
When losing a loved one is as a result of death
When your loved one goes missing and you do not know his or her whereabouts
These two scenarios can be very painful for anyone involved and it takes a lot of grace for anyone to forget such an experience.
If you are reading this and you recently lost a loved one or you’re finding it hard forgetting that feeling, read through this article for some tips on dealing with the pain of losing a loved one.
Let out your feelings:
Some things happen to us that we sometimes cannot explain. In times like this, it’s best to let out the feelings you feel in order to ease that burden.
How can you let out those feelings? By either crying or talking to someone about how you really feel.
It’s easy to bottle up emotions and not free them but this can be harmful to your mental health.
Crying is very useful because when you cry, you are in a way admitting that you are hurt and crying does make you feel better.
Don’t get me wrong as it is quite hard forgetting a loved one you’ve lost but crying is a way of letting out those hurt and bitter emotion.
Talking is also another way of expressing how you feel on the inside. Speak to someone you can confide in and completely open up to that person.
Talking about losing a loved one will help reduce the grief you feel.
Don’t be alone:
There are times you would prefer being alone to your thoughts but do not let it be too much so you are not affected health wise.
Be around loved ones and people who care about you because they are the only ones who can pull you out of what you are going through.
Try to be happy:
Whether you like it or not, life must go on. The truth about life is that people must surely die so have this at the back of your mind so you can move on with other things.
Do all you can to make yourself happy. From experience, this is very hard to do because from the outside, all people see is your smile but you know how you feel within.
It’s easy to pretend to be happy but is that what you really want? It would be nice if you could get to the point where you are naturally happy.
In as much as you try to wonder why it happened, the bottom line is that you have to be happy for yourself and for the people around you.
Losing a loved one could be devastating and the thought of moving on may seem impossible but make an effort to.
You can give yourself some time to grief for that loved one but ultimately you should move on.
The only constant thing in life is change so certain things about you must definitely change.
Move on and live life believing that things will be okay for you.
Draw closer to God:
The greatest comforter I know is Jesus Christ. So in this hard time, move closer to him and you will surely find solace in him.
It may be seem absurd but I have tried it and only he can feel that void in your heart.
I tell you that losing a loved one is not a fantastic experience but you can get over it if you are willing to.
Have you lost someone so dear to you? Do tell us what you did and how you handled the situation.
